The Community Support Program at the Almage Senior Community Centre is open to English-speaking seniors experiencing a loss of autonomy. The majority of the members benefiting from the services are women in the 80+ age group. The program is open to anyone 65 years of age and over and living in the below mentioned territory.

Goal

To help seniors enhance their quality of life, to encourage independence and autonomy, and to prevent premature institutionalization.

The Territory

Being the only English-speaking centre in east-end Montreal, the territory we service is vast. Almage Senior Community Centre services the following six CLSC territories:

  • Pointe-aux-Trembles / Montreal-East
  • Mercier-East / Anjou
  • Olivier-Guimond
  • Hochelaga / Maisonneuve
  • Rosemont
  • St-Leonard

Services offered

The services available in the program include the following;

  • Accompaniments to medical appointments
  • Friendly Visits
  • Friendly Telephone Calls
  • Individual & Family Counselling
  • Information and Referral
  • Reassurance Calls
  • Centre Transportation Pick-up Service
  • Take-Out Meal Program ($12.00 plus $3.00 for delivery – Meals include a fruit, breads, pudding/yogurt, and dessert)
  • Transportation for medical appointments

About Almage

The centre promotes a “senior helping senior” approach to service delivery. The goal of Almage is to improve the quality of life of seniors who live independently. The programs and services are designed to enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their community involvement.
